I think it’s safe to say that we all get agitated sometimes, and I’ll be the first to admit I let myself get annoyed by the littlest of things. I’ve been seeing a handful of influencers share a list of things they do to make their lives a bit more positive, so I thought I’d share 10 of my own mood boosting ideas!
1. Unsubscribe from junk/spam emails
I briefly talked about this at the beginning of the year, but I want to circle back and say unsubscribing from emails has been a weightlifter for sure. I do enough shopping without retailers shoving sales in my face, so not having those constant nags to buy something has really been freeing. Unsubscribing also makes locating those few important emails a lot easier, and less chaotic.
2. Read a fun magazine
Sitting down with a fashion or home magazine always boosts my mood. Often times books seem like too much of a commitment, but a magazine only requires a short amount of time and it’s usually 90% photos. Plus, who doesn’t like the smell of fresh, silky-smooth magazine pages?
3. Take a bath, but make it fancy
If you have your own bathtub, I highly recommend taking advantage of it! I love taking hot, steamy baths and adding essential oils, bubbles, salts, and body oils for a more luxurious feel. Take it up a notch by turning down the lights, playing some of your favorite music, and lighting a few candles. Heck, throw on a face mask and make it a spa night!
4. Go on a walk outdoors
Even if it’s just for 10 minutes, never underestimate the power of fresh air. Often times I’ll listen to a podcast, my favorite playlist, or will turn on background music and really take in my surroundings.
5. Make your bed, everyday
I need to get better at this myself, but coming home to a made bed feels really nice and is incredibly easy to do.
6. Drink your morning coffee or tea in a fancy mug
I got this idea from Kathleen Barnes (see her post here), and I loved it! Even if it’s just on the weekends, break out your teacups or special mugs and make a treat out of it!
7. Use a refreshing face spray
I have to say, when I’m feeling slumpy or moody, I spritz 1-2 sprays of this spray on my face and feel like a brand new woman. Close your eyes, spritz, and inhale deeply! Ahhhhhh.
8. Stretch
This doesn’t have to be a full on yoga session, but just stand up for a minute and stretch it out. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be!
9. Have a few healthy(ish) treats around the house or in the office
Chocolate is the king of all mood boosters. I find when I have a few healthier treats at my disposal, it gives me something to look forward to as an afternoon pick-me-up! I’ve been loving baking these chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, and these are also an easy grab-and-go healthy treat!
10. Add fresh flowers to your grocery list
Milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, flowers. You’re already at the store, may as well set a bouquet of fresh flowers in your cart. Seeing flowers on my kitchen table, or in the entryway, always puts a smile on my face!
If you have anything to add to the list, do share! What’s your favorite mood booster?
