10 HOLIDAY DATE NIGHT IDEAS

Justin and I love this time of year, and while the weekends leading up to Christmas seem to fill up fast, we make sure we take some time to go on holiday-inspired date nights. To help get you in the Christmas spirit, I’ll be sharing 10 holiday date night ideas. And if you’re not local, every city typically does similar events; just Google it!

1. Winter Garden Aglow – Boise

A display of lights and decorations throughout the garden.

2. Scentsy Commons Light Display – Meridian

A free walk-thru activity with 43 miles of lights strung around the property.

3. Winter Wonderland at Indian Creek Plaza – Caldwell

A free event with over 1 million lights, visit Santa, go ice skating, and enjoy your favorite holiday treats.

4. Drive around and look at Christmas lights

An obvious date idea, but Justin and I love doing this multiple times a year in different parts of town. We’ll grab a hot beverage and just drive around and look at Christmas lights. Some of our favorite areas in town: Two Rivers (Eagle), neighborhoods in the foothills (Boise), Spurwing (North Meridian), Harrison Blvd (Boise)

5. Holidays at The Village – Meridian

Ice skate, visit Santa, scavenger hunts, eat, drink, shop, and be merry!

6. Graham Cracker Houses

A family tradition, every year we make ‘gingerbread houses’ but with Graham Crackers. We first hot glue our houses in our desired shape, and then decorate with frosting and misc. candy.

7. Christmas in Color – Boise

New to the treasure valley, this display of lights is a drive-thru event where you watch lights synchronized to holiday music via your radio. You pay per vehicle, so shove as many people into one vehicle as you can!

8. 1 Christmas movie per week

Justin and I just started watching 1 Christmas movie per week, every Wednesday night. We make sure to start it early enough so we don’t fall asleep, and will usually have dinner/dessert while watching. Obviously as Christmas gets closer, we’ll likely bump up the movie nights to a couple times per week because why not!

9. Festival of Trees – Boise

Not happening in 2021. But this is by far my favorite holiday tradition! Keeping warm inside and looking at all the pretty (and themed!) decorated trees. Looking forward to this event returning in 2022!

10. Winter Lights Parade – Downtown Meridian

A one night event on December 3rd, this lights parade works it’s way through Downtown Meridian!

What’s a holiday date night idea you always do? Any traditions you can’t live without? I’d love to hear any other holiday date night ideas you might have! Thanks for reading —
